The main objectives of the WTK are to create mass awareness among students, NGOs and the public and to provide a low-cost water testing facility.
The kit has been designed not only to test water samples, but also to serve as a scientific, informative, and educative tool to students, NGOs and the public. Using the Central Pollution Control Board water testing kit, one can perform the following tests:

History & Development
The Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) is a statutory organization of the Ministry of Environments and Forest, a part of the Government of India. It was constituted under the 1974 Water Act.
The CPCB has developed a Water Testing Kit (WTK) for mass awareness to students, NGOs and the public at large. CPCB has distributed 20 Water Testing Kits to various Schools, Colleges, NGOs and other organizations. The WTK technology developed by CPCB has been offered to The Rajiv Gandhi Mission for Drinking Water, The Department of Drinking Water Supply, and The Ministry of Rural Development as requested by the Mission for fabrication of WTKs on a large scale for assessment of rural water quality in India.
