History & Development
Originating from an MIT D-Lab project in 2016, Moving Health (formerly The Okoa Project) was established to tackle the transportation barriers affecting maternal and emergency healthcare in rural Ghana. Through extensive community engagement and iterative design, the organization developed a tricycle ambulance that meets the unique needs of these communities. Since its inception, Moving Health has expanded its operations, deploying ambulances across various districts in Ghana and continually refining its design based on user feedback.
