SAANS CPAP
InnAccel Technologies

Solution Overview & Benefits
SAANS (System for Artificial Assisted Nasal Support) is a non-invasive respiratory support device developed to treat neonates with respiratory distress syndrome (RDS), especially in regions where neonatal ICUs and uninterrupted power are unavailable. Designed by InnAccel, it offers continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) therapy—a proven, first-line treatment for RDS.
What sets SAANS apart is its power-flexible design: the system can run on wall electricity, car batteries, or even a manual mode using a foot pedal. This ensures continuous functionality during power outages, common in many rural healthcare settings. Its portability, intuitive controls, and built-in safety features make it suitable for both urban hospitals and remote clinics.
Key benefits:
- Delivers stable and safe CPAP therapy for neonates with RDS
- Runs on multiple power sources—electricity, 12V battery, or manual operation
- Easy to operate and maintenance-light for resource-limited facilities
- Built-in humidifier and oxygen blender for better patient outcomes
- Enables treatment at point of care, reducing need for referrals
History & Development
SAANS was developed by InnAccel Technologies, an Indian MedTech innovation platform focused on frugal, scalable health innovations. Created in response to high neonatal mortality due to RDS in India and Sub-Saharan Africa, SAANS was co-designed with input from neonatologists and tested across various clinical environments. Field pilots, supported by academic and public health institutions, helped refine the usability and performance of the device.
SAANS has been deployed in over 100 hospitals in India and is part of national neonatal health programs. It is WHO-listed and supported by organizations like PATH, NEST360, and UNICEF.
