Solution Overview & Benefits

RainSaucer is an innovative off-grid rainwater harvesting device that collects rain directly from the sky using a funnel-shaped, food-grade plastic collector. Designed for use in areas where traditional rooftop collection is not viable, it provides a clean, affordable, and scalable solution for drinking water, sanitation, and irrigation needs.
Benefits include:

  • Clean water collection without roof contamination
  • Easy setup and portability
  • Cost-effective for households and small communities
  • Ideal for off-grid, rural, or emergency settings
History & Development

The RainSaucer was developed to address the need for a roof-independent rain collection method, particularly in underserved rural areas and informal settlements. Piloted in countries like Guatemala, Haiti, Kenya, and India, the system has been used by nonprofits, aid organizations, and individual households seeking a simple yet effective way to access clean water. The idea gained traction as a scalable tool for both emergency and long-term water access solutions.
