Solution Overview & Benefits

The Pump&Drink range of solar drinking stations provides a complete and robust solution for drinking water supply in rural and periurban areas. Each Pump&Drink is fitted to a specific context and consists of a solar pump, a treatment line, an elevated water tank and several distribution taps. They are all connected to a remote monitoring system to monitor drinking water production and maintenance needs.

History & Development

The Pump&Drink has been designed to replace defective manual pumps in rural areas and improve the life of communities. The idea is not only to bring water, but to improve the water point with automatic, solar pumping, treatment, storage and distribution. In this way, people don't waste time in long queues and their health is improved. From one station, the Pump&Drink has evolved to a range of 3 stations to fit different contexts and reach populations up to 500, 2000 or 5000 people depending on the Pump&Drink installed. The solution received the Solar Impulse label for Efficient Solutions
