- Lightweight and Portable: Weighs just 2 ounces, making it easy to carry for travel, outdoor activities, or humanitarian missions.
- Proven in the Field: Used in disaster relief and by millions globally in areas with limited access to clean water.
History & Development
LifeStraw was first developed in 1999 by Vestergaard in partnership with The Carter Center to filter Guinea worm larvae from drinking water. In 2005, the LifeStraw Personal was introduced for broader humanitarian use. Since then, the technology has evolved into a family of products, including household and community filters, and has been deployed in response to global emergencies such as the Haiti earthquake and Pakistan floods. The company continues to innovate and expand access to safe water through retail sales and social impact programs.
