Kasha is a mobile-first e-commerce platform enabling confidential ordering and delivery of women's health, hygiene, and household products—including menstrual care, contraceptives, OTC medicines, and beauty items—to low-income users in Rwanda and Kenya. Accessible via web, Android, USSD or phone, Kasha offers:

History & Development

Founded in 2016 by CEO Joanna Bichsel in Rwanda, Kasha expanded to Kenya in 2019. It has grown from a consumer service to a hybrid model also serving clinics, pharmacies, and NGOs:

  • Supported by DFC, Finnfund, Swedfund, Knife Capital, and others.
  • Serves 130K+ unique customers and has delivered 1M+ product units, with ~63% as low-income users.
  • Employs ~400 women agents, creating formal-sector job opportunities in rural areas
