Solution Overview & Benefits

Fertigro is a slow-release, 100% organic fertilizer produced from the frass and leftover substrate of Black Soldier Fly (BSF) farming. As part of InsectiPro’s circular agriculture model, it turns insect production waste into a nutrient-rich soil amendment. Fertigro improves soil quality over time, making it ideal for smallholder farmers seeking to regenerate land and increase productivity without synthetic inputs.

Benefits:

  • Rebuilds soil structure and improves aeration
  • Enhances water retention in soil
  • Supplies essential nutrients with a balanced NPK ratio
  • Encourages microbial activity for healthier soil
  • Reduces dependence on chemical inputs
  • Locally produced and environmentally friendly
History & Development

InsectiPro launched in 2018 in Kenya, with a focus on using insects to close nutrient cycles and combat protein and soil degradation challenges.

Fertigro emerged as a by‑product of BSF feed production and has been promoted in recent years as an affordable, organic soil amendment.
