DH Solutions Africa addresses the critical shortage of healthcare access in Uganda and neighboring countries, where doctor-to-patient ratios can exceed 1:25,000. The platform offers a localized AI chatbot accessible via SMS/USSD or web, allowing patients to receive real-time medical triage in English, Luganda, or Swahili. Depending on symptoms, the system offers self-care guidance or routes patients to telemedicine appointments with licensed clinicians. It ensures continuity of care with a secure, consent-based digital record system.

History & Development
The project began in late 2023 as a collaboration between a Computer Science student at TUM and students at Makerere University. The initial prototype was an SMS-based symptom checker using local medical guidelines. In early 2024, the team partnered with MyDoctor Kampala to develop an AI-powered chatbot using BERT, tuned with regional health data.
A pilot was launched mid-2024, integrating telemedicine and a basic record-keeping module. With support from TUM’s HealthTech team, they later added secure video calls, expanded language support, and refined compliance with GDPR and HIPAA standards. The platform is now scaling to more clinics across East Africa with support from local ministries.
