Solution Overview & Benefits
Operation ASHA is a community based program model for areas with high TB prevalence. The organization provides service delivery at the doorsteps of the under-served through existing community resources.
- The model uses local workers to expand access to services and products of high quality at affordable prices among disadvantaged communities worldwide.
- The model offers TB treatment and support lasting 6-10 months, as well as MDR-TB treatment and care that lasts around 24 months for each patient.
- Over-the-counter medicines to treat side-effects of TB drugs, including nausea, vomiting, weight loss, headache, and joint pain are also provided, along with food and nutrition supplements, contraceptives and Oral Rehydration Salt (ORS).
- 60% of OpASHA’s expenses generates livelihood in the slums fighting TB, while also providing jobs to slum dwellers who work as providers and community partners.
