Lifeplayer MP3
Lifeline Energy

Solution Overview & Benefits
The Lifeplayer MP3 is an MP3-enabled multi-band radio designed and engineered for the humanitarian sector.
This tool combines radio, media player, cellular and Internet content.
The Lifeplayer MP3 is powered by a solar panel and a fail-safe winding mechanism and has outstanding speaker quality enabling 60 listeners to hear it clearly.
Created to deliver on-demand programming that classrooms or communities can replay continually, the Lifeplayer is an oversized MP3 player that can be pre-loaded to hold 64GB of educational content, can download Internet audio and can record live voice or radio programs for playback later.
With a wireless solar panel and a hand-wound crank, the Lifeplayer can even charge mobile phones.
Using a microSD card, dozens of hours of MP3 audio content can be pre-loaded at our factory or loaded locally. Content can be repeated and paused as desired.
The Lifeplayer can be used for school-based learning and a variety of other applications. A community can listen to an unlimited range of programs that is either pre-loaded onto the Lifeplayer or can be recorded from the radio or downloaded from the Internet or a cell phone via a microSD™ card. This might include how to start a business; how to use micro-finance; how to tackle local environmental issues; how use fertilizer and pesticides correctly; or how to prevent diseases. Even oral histories that are in danger of being lost can be recorded onto the Lifeplayer and saved for future generations.
The Lifeplayer is the first of many products that Lifeline Energy has designed through our new product development and commercial arm, Lifeline Technologies Trading Ltd. (LTTL). LTTL not only focuses on developing clean energy, self-powered products for the poor, but also donates profits from product sales to Lifeline Energy.
History & Development
A mission-driven non-profit social enterprise, Lifeline Energy designs, manufactures and distributes solar-powered and wind-up MP3 players and radios for classroom and community listening.
We deliver sustainable education and information access to the most vulnerable: orphans, children, women, refugees and people in poor health. When humanitarian emergencies strike, we respond with radios and lights for displaced populations around the world
Since 1999, more than 700,000 solar and wind-up MP3 players and radios have been distributed throughout sub-Saharan Africa and beyond reaching many millions of listeners. Each unit benefits an average of 40 listeners. However, given the huge class sizes in many African countries, that number could twice as high.
Lifeline Energy has a consistent and proven track record of delivery on both large-scale and small community-based projects.
