Jamebi SunLifeWater

The Jamebi Solar Water Pasteurizer works to remove pathogens from drinking water through solar radiation.

The World Health Organisation state that the JAMEBI Solar Water Pasteurizer provides “comprehensive ProtectionTwo Star”. Meaning that it removes over 99.99% of pathogens from drinking water.

This device seeks to supply clean, affordable water for suitable sunny tropical countries on a long term basis, with a lifetime water cost below USD $3 per 1000 liters; and to supply a robust, easily stored and deployed emergency/disaster relief technology for rapid but temporary deployment.

Jamebi purifies water through pasteurization, killing up to 99% of a wide range of pathogens, including viruses, bacteria and parasites.

How it works on a sunny day:

1. Dirty water enters Jamebi at 25C. It heats to 75C in the heat exchanger. Here, it captures what would otherwise be wasted heat, from the water leaving the panel during stage 3.
2. Pasteurizing. This pre-heated water enters the solar thermal panel. It heats to 80C. A safety valve prevents the water from exiting the panel if it cools below 75C. Lasting at least 4 minutes at 80C, the heat pasteurizes the water.
3. Cooling. This hot pasteurized water re-enters the heat exchanger. It cools down. The clean, cool water flows out, either for storage or for drinking.
   Jamebi's technology contains no fragile glass, just one moving part, and it is easy to install.
