This is a 3D-printable headband.
From the open source design, a headband can be printed, to which a transparent face shield can be attached that limits aerosol and splatter exposure from in front and above, while providing top ventilation and which is re-usable for a single user.
Note that this solution is a collection of open source files only. Design That Matters is not currently constructing the DtM-v3.1 Face Shield for distribution.
History & Development
This design is a modification from the Prusa Protective Face Shield - RC2, developed further by a range of over 40 contributors, including Spark Health Design, Microsoft, Boeing, the University of Washington and others.
This design has undergone review in a clinical setting and has been found appropriate when fabricated with the printer type and materials specified and is designed as backup Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) options if the standard PPE has become unavailable. This device has not gone through the same regulatory approval process as standard PPE but has gone through a special verification process expedited strictly for the response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
