Interstate Disaster Medical Collaborative
Solution Overview & Benefits
This is a Pneumatic device.
A.R.M.E.E. Ventilator (Automatic Respiration Management Exclusively for Emergencies) is an air-powered (pneumatic) ventilator.
History & Development
A group of US-based engineers and healthcare workers designed the A.R.M.E.E. Ventilator with manufacturing simplicity in mind to help cope with shortage of ventilators required for COVID-19 patients. A 3D printer or CNC Machining/Milling tool is required to produce A.R.M.E.E. and the design is based on a 1965 US Army respirator prototype which has been successfully tested on amimals and humans in the past.
Currently, the project is in the final testing phase. The team is now open for third-party validation and funding. Healthcare workers or institutions who would like to help validate the device can contact the team via email. Engineers can contribute by helping with designs via the dedicated GitHub page.
