TakaTaka Solutions is a waste management business whose mission is "to provide affordable and environmentally friendly waste management services to all income areas."

Waste management services to all types of waste producers residential houses and apartments, office buildings, restaurants, schools, shopping malls, factories and hospitals.

Formed to combat the environmental and medical issues created by uncollected waste, a problem endemic to many African cities, TakaTaka recycles and composts 80% of collected waste while also providing sustainable employment for underprivileged youth in low income areas.

Through our vertically integrated model of waste collection, sorting, recycling, composting and incineration we are able to offer our customers a one-stop-shop that meets the most demanding sustainability standards. Our recycling rate of 95% represents one of the highest recycling rates globally.

Recycling is the foundation of our waste management model. This is why waste separation and sorting are essential in what we do. Only when waste is sorted well and not overly contaminated can it be recycled.

Our plants turn plastic products into flakes. We optionally can also turn the materials into new pellets. These are the steps:

• Pre-sorting and quality control
• Crushing into smaller flakes
• Turbo washing
• Hot-washing at 90 degrees Celsius
• Washing and rinsing
• Drying and label removal
• Pelletising (melting of flakes into pellets)
