MellowVans are electric delivery vehicles that provide low cost, efficient and emission-free utility services in cities. They are designed to be attractive and eye-catching, with class-leading range, acceleration, and safety features.
Each vehicle runs at less than a dollar per day in operational cost, provides over 100 km of range, and features 2.4 cubic meters of space, which is more than enough for most urban deliveries. MellowVans have been developed with feedback from some of the world’s leading e-commerce and delivery companies.
The vehicles are safe and feature full internet of things functionality, combined with bespoke client specific offerings like active cooling and security features.
MellowVans can also be used for urban advertising.
History & Development
Mellow Mobility develops and manufactures light electric cargo vehicles that provide low cost, efficient and emission-free mobility in cities, with an additional advertising-based revenue stream.
They are based in Stellenbosch, South Africa, with an engineering team of about 12, plus another 13 technicians.
The development and manufacturing journey started at the end of 2016, where the first prototypes were manufactured. With these prototypes, the main manufacturing obstacles could be altered, and the second version’s manufacturing started in 2017.
During 2018 the vehicles were tested in small scale pilot programs throughout South Africa. They are currently in the process of setting up for full-on production.
